ULI Louisiana Wins $10,000 Urban Innovation Grant

The Urban Land Institute of Louisiana (ULI) recently was awarded a $10,000 grant from the Urban Land Institute’s Urban Innovation Fund to launch an open ideas competition called  [Imagine Downtown] Lafayette.   In partnership with Creative Action Acadiana (CA) and The Lafayette Consolidated Government (LCG) the objective of the open ideas competition is to shape dialogue surrounding future creative and economic growth within six downtown sites in Lafayette, Louisiana, with the ultimate goal of generating a sustainable vision for Lafayette’s downtown district. The winning team in the competition will deliver a redesign of downtown Lafayette that invigorates Lafayette’s urban core, unites surrounding neighborhoods and institutions, and develops a 24-hour livable and sustainable community.

In addition to the competition, there will be public exhibitions in New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Lafayette showcasing the top entries, and a video highlight of the project. Partner organizations include Creative Action Acadiana, Lafayette Consolidated Government, University of Louisiana at Lafayette (ULL) School of Architecture and Design (SoAD) and the Acadiana Open Channel  (AOC).
