Please join ULI Louisiana as we welcome Stockton Williams, Executive Director of ULI’s Terwilliger Center for Housing as he discusses national trends in the housing sector, and how they apply to our communities in south Louisiana.
The ULI Terwilliger Center for Housing was established in 2007 with a $5 million endowment to ULI from former ULI Chairman J. Ronald Terwilliger, chairman emeritus of Trammell Crow Residential and chairman of the ULI Terwilliger Center. The mission of the Center is to expand housing opportunity by leveraging the private sector and other partners to create and sustain mixed-income, mixed-use urban and suburban neighborhoods that incorporate a full spectrum of housing choices with special attention paid to affordable and workforce housing and an emphasis on expanding housing affordability to a full spectrum of buyers and renters in communities across the country.
Following Mr. Williams presentation, we will hear from Ellen Lee with the City of New Orleans, about the Mayor’s 5 year plan to build or preserve 7500 Affordable Housing units in Orleans Parish. To learn more about the plan, Housing for a Resilient New Orleans, you may read it HERE.
David Steinwedell, Executive Director of ULI Austin, will also speak about the City of Austin’s innovative solution and plan to preserve about $500 Million worth of of affordable housing, or approximately 5,000 units. How are they doing it, and the cooperative efforts it took to get their plan in place and ready to roll out…in less than a year!
